THE STORY

1998

The year was 1998 and two college students were about to have a chance encounter that would have a big impact on the rest of their lives…

Our young couple crossed paths during an elegant soirée, or maybe it was a kegger, at Western Michigan University, where Kerry attended college. They made a connection and, after Seth returned to Michigan State, continued to keep in touch throughout the year. Alas, they did eventually end up parting ways.

FLASH FORWARD 11 YEARS

2010

Behold, the power of the internet. After much time wondering "what ever happened to that guy", Kerry took it upon herself to look Seth up online and reconnect.

Side note: The following course of events have been a highly disputed topic between the two lovebirds, but in the end, Kerry has it all in writing. So here's how it all went down…

Seth was driving across the country for a Charlevoix visit and, "at least twice", invited Kerry to come up for a color tour. Kerry eventually accepted Seth's invitation and made the treacherously long drive from Grand Rapids to Charlevoix during a torrential downpour. During her trip she wondered if she was crazy for being so spontaneous, but simply had to find out if there was a reason she'd never forgotten that cute, charming guy from the black tie Oktoberfest of '98.

She arrived at his doorstep in the heart of the storm (like a wet cat, as he says) and spent the first of many weekends in Charlevoix. Over the next year and a half, the three of them (Seth, Kerry, and Tyson) spent a lot of time together, making the 3-hour trek between Grand Rapids to Charlevoix. They then decided to make the move to Denver, Colorado together, which truly sealed their destiny.

They spent the next four years making Colorado their home, when after those four years (yes, four long years), literally mere days before their 5 year anniversary, Seth completely surprised Kerry with a beautiful & intimately staged proposal. It occurred at the Garden of the Gods in front of Kerry's mom, stepdad, and grandfather. She said YES immediately! And they all shed some tears, enjoyed a celebratory dinner, and began planning how to get their closest family & friends together to help them celebrate this wonderful time in their lives.
